Sun Protection Vulnerability Checklist, Please Check It Out!

When it comes to sun protection, you must focus your efforts on key points, so that you can get twice the result with half the effort. The existence of these loopholes will greatly reduce the effectiveness of many sun protection, so you must pay attention to it.

1.Have you chosen a three-dimensional sun protection strategy?

A: Avoid sun exposure. The period from 10 am to 4 pm every day is the strongest period of the day for ultraviolet rays. After 4 pm, the intensity of ultraviolet rays decreases significantly, only equivalent to 25% or less of the strongest period. Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., direct exposure to the sun should be avoided as much as possible.

B: Block, prevent being exposed to the sun, that is, use clothing, hats, umbrellas, sunglasses, etc. to block. I first mentioned the term “hard sunscreen” in 2012 to refer to the above-mentioned sun protection measures.

C: Cream, sunscreen. When AB cannot meet the sun protection needs, use C to supplement it.

D: Diet. Pay attention to daily intake of antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, or foods rich in polyphenol antioxidants such as green tea, carrots, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. These foods can help reduce photodamage and sun-induced free radical damage.

2.Have you chosen the right and powerful hard sun protection gear?

Is the umbrella big enough? Is the hat a round hat or a baseball cap? Are the linings of umbrellas and hats black, and are the fabrics opaque? Is your sun protection clothing effective enough?

3.Have you chosen the right sunscreen?

For daily commuting, use SPF15 or above and PA++ or above;

For long-term outdoor activities, choose SPF30 or above and PA+++ or above;

If it is outdoor sports or swimming, choose SPF50+, PA++++ or above, and choose waterproof type.

4.Do you use enough sunscreen?

If the amount of sunscreen you use does not reach the standard amount (2mg/cm2), the sunscreen effect will plummet. Under normal circumstances, an area as large as two palms requires about 0.7-0.8g, which is almost the same as a one-yuan coin.

This amount is a bit much, and surveys show that most people cannot use this amount, so it makes sense to choose a high-index sunscreen at this time. This is why we need to use a three-dimensional sun protection strategy. Hard and soft parts complement each other so that it is difficult for ultraviolet rays to take advantage of the situation.

5.Have you taken precautions against short-term strong sunlight exposure?

Many people think that these ten minutes are insignificant, but in fact, one round trip is half an hour, and one month is a total exposure time of 15 hours. The cumulative UVA exposure dose is about 100,000 millijoules.

6.Have you taken precautions against winter?

In winter, although the total amount of ultraviolet radiation is about 1/3 of that in summer, you can still get tanned if you don’t pay attention to sun protection. In fact, sun protection in winter is very simple. Wearing a hat with a slightly larger brim is basically enough, and it can also keep you warm.
